In comparison with last year, the prices of appartments have increased by 4.3% in the second trimester of 2012 in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. These data were officially released by Luxembourg Statistical Office (Statec) and according to the same source this increase actually corresponds to the trends registered in the past years. Taking into account the inflation rate, the increase stands at 2.6% in the second semester. When it comes to old flats, their prices have increased by 3.6% while that figure sky-rockets to 5.6% - always in comparison with the second semester of the past year – if the data are restricted solely to new apartments.

After – as usual – a slow start in the first trimester, much more flats were sold in the next three months. As for the average costs per square meter, these stand at 3’800 € for old units and at 4’500 for brand-new flats.
