Prices for apartments rise
Prices for apartments rise by 4.1% (L'essentiel)
According to a study published on June 20 by Statec, this trend is mainly due to the steady rise of prices for brand-new apartments while those for all other similar properties tend to decrease. Year over year the price for new apartments has risen by 8.7%. This is what Statec revealed some weeks ago; on the other hand, prices for “old” apartments have risen by only 1.6%, thereby contributing to an overall increase by 4.1%. If you focus on the last six months, prices have actually decreased by 0.1% by comparing the figures registered for the second quarter with those relating to the January-March trimester.
To come down to real figures, an apartment whose surface stands between 50 and 70 sq. m. costs on average 379,999 € if bran-new while the price would go down to 248,147 € for “old” premises. However, prices vary depending on the geographical location of the premises. If you buy in the district of Luxembourg, which includes the capital city, the average price stands at 420,943 € while the same figure decreases to 332,238 € in southern Luxembourg.
