Respect the house rules
Respect the house rules (Caritas Luxembourg)
What are house rules there for?
The house rules are closely related to the lease agreement, are usually signed at the same time and are of great importance. Such rules set the mutual obligations of each resident in a real estate that includes several units. These rules help you understand what residents expect from one another. They will also set out your rights and obligations at the same time. These must be read carefully and kept in mind at all times.
The internal rules and regulations are not established to impede your freedom or oblige anyone to do something, but on the contrary they lay the foundations for a harmonious communal life both in private as well as in common areas. They are found in all types of family housing and contain all the practical arrangements for the management of that home and of its technical equipment. Thus, they are also there for your convenience. To fulfill their goals and duties, the rules must evolve with the times and be adjusted to specific cases.
Each tenant is personally responsible for his actions and for those of the people living with him. If necessary, he will answer for all claims made against him by other tenants, including the nuisance of any kind caused by him or by any other occupant of the unit where they have settled. In this context, one should be aware that non-compliance with such rules may result in termination of the lease and legal actions may be undertaken as well if necessary.
What do house rules contain?
Of course, these depend on the requests made by the owner based on the type of real estate where you are settling down. However, there are constant items such as:
• Respect for indoor and outdoor common areas
• Respect the neighborhood
• Maintenance of premises (tenant / owner)
• The use of drainage systems
• The keeping of animals
• Hygiene and safety
• Security
• Insurance
